Missed out, got to get in early!

Here we are in June, a little family business run by my wife and I (supported by lots of friends) being run part-time, planning to deliver approximately 40 events in 2022. That’s most weekends plus a few festivals booked through to mid-September – sorry if you’ve missed, got to get in early!

One of the aims of building this business is to not only create something that stands out but also give our friends an opportunity to come and experience the great atmosphere created by many of the events we attend. Our 18-month daughter got to enjoy her first festival in August last year loving the festival and the interaction with thousands of people (we all know just how good that felt after the various lockdowns). We knew she’d had a great day based on just how well she slept.

2 years old and she attended one of the first events of this year helping to set up a little mobile bar in Driffield (a great little Yorkshire town). She’s a natural, told dad what to do and where to put stuff (I’m pleased Rhiannon took her home before the party started 😊).

Here’s our advice for you partygoers and to those getting married in 2023! Get to know your suppliers quickly, choosing your suppliers early, and getting them secured is just the first step but the most important steps to ensure you are not disappointed. Always agree on the basics of what you are looking for and pay a deposit to secure their services. If you are securing services where prices may be affected (e.g. catering, drinks provider), come to an agreement in principle e.g. drink prices should be based upon local gastropub prices. Trying to secure a fixed price for something in the future isn’t always that easy and you wouldn’t want to be overcharged, would you?

Why should you pay a deposit? The purpose of this is to create a contract between you and your chosen supplier to secure the date and their services. Without this, there is no contract between you and them meaning either party can walk away at the last minute, something I’m aware other suppliers have done.

About 6-8 weeks before your event, finalise the details with your supplier e.g. final numbers, special requests. Remember this, your suppliers have done this many times and can offer some great advice where things have worked well and things haven’t. Don’t be hard and fast with your suppliers, listen to what they have to say.

For us its simple, our job is to take away as much pressure from you as you will allow and provide the best advice we can based on our experiences to make your day special.

Successful wedding

Do we deliver on our promise, only our past clients can tell you that:

Cannot recommend this company enough. Went above and beyond expectations, very helpful and friendly. Stress free, apart from a “very nearly flying tipi”. John took it upon himself to keep checking we weren’t going to take off! Amazing. Thank you all. – Louise K (we didn’t supply the tipi).

Flowing events provided us with their beautiful VeeDub mobile bar for our festival theme wedding day on 23/07/2021 and they were nothing short of amazing! From the friendly staff down to the massive selection of drinks and delicious cocktails, the service was second to none! Thank you so much to all of the staff who made the day run so smoothly and not forgetting the stunning bar itself which caught the eyes of all our guests and they haven’t been able to stop talking about it since! Highly recommend this fabulous company for your special day/event – Mr & Mrs Higgins.

Where do I start. John and Rhiannon came to our help in our of need. From the first message on Instagram to them leaving the wedding the communication was brilliant. They catered to all of our needs and made sure the drinks on offer were what we wanted. On the day of the wedding they arrived early and got everything up and running according to our timings. All the staff were friendly and accommodating to all of our guests and the VW was the talking point of the wedding. Everything just went perfectly, they even allowed us and guests to take photos in the van! I honestly couldn’t recommend them more, they made us feel so comfortable and we’re so friendly and we’re an absolute pleasure to have at the wedding! – Richard Cook.

John and Rhiannon provided the Bar for our wedding yesterday, from start to finish the whole set up was professional and super friendly. It made a huge difference to our day and would 100 percent use them again. It was amazing. – Kay and Steve.
